The Soap Operas listed below are currently being cast in Los Angeles. Soap Operas are one of the biggest employers of talent in the city. We submit our clients to the soap operas on a regular basis and we have had numerous clients read for or be cast in these shows. These shows are constantly casting day players, Under-5s and extras. Many times during the year they are also casting new contract roles. The soaps provide a great avenue for you to build your demo reel and build a career. Even the extra work pays $140, you are usually on the set for a few hours and unlike most film and TV, many times on soap opera sets you may have the opportunity to be upgraded to an Under-5 role. (Five lines or less)
General Hospital is definitely one of the favorite shows to work on. Everyone from the casting directors to the stage managers are extremely nice. Another incentive for working on General Hospital is that they shoot the show and cast the show in the same building. Gwen Hillier, who casts day players, Under-5s and extras is very open to having you visit her office and saying "hello" on the days that you work. Many times if you ask nicely and she has the time, she will grant you the opportunity to read for the show! This is probably the only show on television where the casting director may let you read for her without an appointment!
